I recently encountered my first clinical clerkship as part of an applicant’s CV. Not knowing what it was, I asked the applicant and did online research.
From what I’ve learned, clinical clerkships are unpaid observational rotations that medical school graduates, particularly IMGs, participate in as a way to gain clinical experience in the US and it also appears to be something that is seen as a benefit to have when applying for residency programs.
From a credentialing standpoint, is a clinical clerkship something we should be verifying?

Hi Kelly-
Interesting! I’ve never heard of these before. If it was strictly observational, I would say no.
Good luck-
Allison
